For those married by civil ceremony, the Registrar who solemnized the marriage will ensure that the marriage is registered using the information on the Marriage Registration Form (MRF) as soon as possible following the ceremony.
If you are married in a religious or secular ceremony, it is your responsibility to submit the MRF to a Registrar at a Civil Registration Service within one month for the marriage to be registered. It is not necessary to return the form to the same Registrar who issued it.
Please note, you cannot obtain your marriage certificate until your marriage has been duly registered.
